Is the Hearthstone Samsung Galaxy promotion still active in September 2026?

In the card game Hearthstone, there was previously a promotion that offered three card packs and an exclusive card back for logging in on certain Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

However, not every Galaxy device was eligible. I personally play Hearthstone on a Galaxy A36 5G (released in 2025), but unfortunately, it does not qualify. Specifically, the promotion applied to the Galaxy S6 (released in 2015), Galaxy S7 (2016), Galaxy S8 (2017), and their variant models, such as the S7 Edge and Note 5.

According to this Reddit thread, Samsung never officially set an expiration date for this promotion. (Regrettably, as noted in the thread, a similar promotion for Huawei smartphones came to an end in April 2022.)

So, is this promotion still active as of September 2026?

First, checking the Google Play Store shows that Hearthstone app currently requires Android OS 9 or higher to run. Because the S6 and S7 cannot be updated to Android 9, they are no longer eligible.

The Galaxy S8, on the other hand, can be updated to Android 9. To determine whether logging into Hearthstone from an S8 would still trigger the Samsung promotion, I purchased a used unit on Mercari, a popular Japanese online marketplace.

With 64GB of internal storage, the device should theoretically have enough space to install Hearthstone, which requires around 10GB.

However, when I attempted to install Hearthstone via the Google Play Store immediately after booting up the phone, the download failed with errors approximately ten times.

I then followed the on-screen prompts to complete the initial system setup and updated both the Samsung and Google apps. After doing so, I was finally able to install Hearthstone.

Next, I launched the Hearthstone app and logged into my Battle.net account.

…The standard home screen appeared, with no notification indicating that a card back had been awarded.

I usually play Hearthstone in Japanese on the Asia server. Hoping it might make a difference, I switched the in-game language to English and logged into both the Europe and Americas & Southeast Asia servers, finishing the tutorial on each.

Unfortunately, I was unable to obtain the card back on any of the servers.

Therefore, to answer the question posed in the title: Regrettably, as of September 2026, the Hearthstone Samsung promotion is no longer active.
